How much will I be working ?

It is a full day of work; however, it is not strenuous.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Kitchen duties i.e. kitchen hand, waiting and setting of tables
  • Housekeeping duties i.e. Stripping and making beds, cleaning bathrooms.
  • Laundry duties i.e. loading washing and drying machines
  • Baggage handling i.e. transferring guest luggage to and from transfer vessel, and into staterooms
  • Other duties as required

How much free time do I get?

Free time is determined by how efficiently and effectively the work is completed, as well as the number of guests and volunteers on board. It will primarily consist of water sessions, such as snorkelling or diving.

How many dives can I do?

You’ll have at least two water sessions a day during which you can dive. This may vary depending on your numbers and how you complete your work.

If you book for snorkelling as a guest, you may snorkel as a volunteer (diving will not be included)

  • Certified divers may continue to dive or snorkel
  • Introductory divers may continue to go, provided an instructor is available.

The maximum number of nights that can initially be booked for volunteering is 2. Any additional nights are subject to availability and will depend on your performance.

To book, we recommend contacting Reef Encounter directly to confirm availability, as volunteering nights can only be booked through them. For returning volunteers, please have your original reference number handy, and don’t forget to bring your volunteering shirt. If you no longer have one, you can purchase a new one.
