The SS Yongala – A Legendary Underwater Wreck

The SS Yongala is one of the world’s most famous shipwrecks, located off the coast of Queensland, Australia, within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. This passenger and cargo steamer tragically sank during a cyclone in 1911, taking 122 lives with it. Resting at a depth of approximately 30 metres, the wreck has transformed into a vibrant artificial reef teeming with marine life, including giant groupers, sea turtles, manta rays, and colourful corals. The Yongala offers an unforgettable diving experience, making it a bucket-list destination for divers worldwide.

Snorkelling and Scuba Diving can be strenuous activity. Some medications and medical conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, heart or lung disease) may prevent or limit your participation.
